Glen GrayDespite camp being a part of the Bergen County Park System, the camp is supported by rents and donations. For obvious reasons, we need all the help we can find and you can help in many different ways:
Time: We would welcome many more volunteers to help us with the Campmaster needs, as well as with program, fundraising, publicity and maintenance. There is much to be done and if everyone helps in some way then "many hands make light work".
Talent: Many of you have special skills which can serve the camp well. Plumbing, electricity, carpentry, roofing, painting, masonry - you name it, we probably need some work done!!! If you are more into computers, graphic arts, marketing, publicity and other administrative skills, please contact us!
Treasure: If you are not the handy type, or live far away, you can most certainly help us by contributing money for either or both our Operating and Endowment Funds. We do not receive any funds from Bergen County and must pay all of our expenses for keeping the camp open and operating in full compliance with all rules and regulations. This takes considerable effort and money so we welcome all gifts!
Now that Friends of Glen Gray, Inc. has total management responsibility for Camp Glen Gray, ably supported by The Old Guard of Camp Glen Gray, besides the funding needs, which you will be hearing about regularly, the property maintenance must be carried out to support the increased use of the camp. We need people who can be called on to work and with the Old Guard Service Committee to perform both routine and emergency needs at camp. We know all of the "regulars" but we need to find others with skills we don't know about and the interest to help us out! Please call the camp office to volunteer your help - we need you NOW!
Our working relationships with our Bergen County partners are going well and they are as interested as we are in making certain that the camp serves the public well. We urge you to make the effort to come and visit. Better yet, make a weekend reservation and relive old memories. If you are not sure whether the camp can use whatever you may have, please call camp at 201-327-7234. You may not need it but the camp can probably make use of it!!!
