Glen Gray Gilwell Leantos
The Gilwell leanto site contains 8 leantos, each 11' wide by 10' deep. Typically, up to 4 people can be accommodated in each leanto. Leantos have a wooden floor and three walls. An open front wall exposes them to the weather. Ramps at each leanto provide accessibility. In warm weather, water is available in the site. In cold weather, water is available at the West Well.
Gilwell leantos are part of the Gilwell campsite. It includes
a cabin as well (must be rented separately). This campsite is
handicapped accessible. An accessible latrine is also part of
the site. By prior arrangement with camp, a vehicle can bring
handicapped campers up to the site (weather permitting).
A view of the site from in front of the Gilwell Cabin. The site is
located right off of Mary Post Field. There is room to pitch
tents in addition to the leantos. Benedict Cabin is just a
short walk across the road.
