Glen Gray Traveling Exhibit

A traveling exhibit about Camp Glen Gray; its history, the emergency, and the effort to preserve the camp; is available to troops, dens, and other FOGG members for fundraising and awareness purposes. It has pictures, newspaper clippings, and a rack of brochures. It can be placed in a public space, such as your local library or town hall for a month; or you can use it on a one-time basis for a meeting. Contact Erik Parsons.

Event:
On March 10, 2001, Troop 13, Montclair, set up tables around Montclair, New Jersey and asked residents to bring old jars of coins and cans of spare change for its "Coin Collection for Camp."  The troop raised over $1200.

Recommendations:
Wear uniforms (they give credibility)

Offer free pick-ups to donors who can't make it to the collection site.

Get Publicity: send a press release to your local paper one week before the event. A sample is below for you to copy.

Coin Collection for Camp

Union Congregational Church's Boy Scout Troop 13 is working to save Camp Glen Gray in Mahwah.

Founded in 1917, Camp Glen Gray is located on 820 acres of pristine forest in the Ramapo Mountains and is used by over 5000 scouts every year.  Boys from all across the metro area learn responsibility for their environment, their community, and for themselves.

Troop 13 is hoping Montclair residents will bring their old jars of pennies, and cans of spare change to its " Coin Collection for Camp" this Saturday, March 10, from 8:30 an to 12:30 pm.

Troop members will be available at Chase Bank in Watchung Plaza and at Beyond the Bagel on Bellevue Avenue. For those  who can't get out, pick-ups are available by calling (973)
